Women's rugby defeats UNH, advances in national playoffs

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's rugby team will move on in the USA Rugby Division II Fall Championships after taking care of business at home in a 36-17 win over University of New Hampshire on Saturday.

Playing a playoff game for the first time on their new field, the Mules advanced past the opening round of Northeast Region play. Colby will play Vassar College next Saturday at Kutztown (Pa.) University in a second round game. The winner moves on to play either Buffalo State or Bryant College on Sunday.
Colby, the winners of the New England Small College Rugby Conference (NESCRC),  improved to 7-2 overall. Vassar is 10-0 overall and took a 75-5 romp over Roger Williams University in its opening round game Saturday.
Colby had tries from Elissa Guerra '18, Laura Wu '18, Jess Edlund '18, Helen Sears '20, and Emma Hofman '20. Sears and Wu both had conversions.
