Bill Sodoma is entering his 16th year as Director of Sports Information in the 2017-18 academic year and his 11th year as an Assistant Athletic Director.
Sodoma is responsible for publicity and media communications for Colby’s 32 varsity sports, which includes more than 600 student-athletes. This will be his 19th year working in the field of Sports Information. In the past, Sodoma was in charge of the assistant coach hiring process and did scheduling of Colby’s field and facilities.
Prior to Colby, Sodoma was the Director of Sports Information at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y. He managed a department that had 24 sports, including two NCAA Division I programs. Sodoma was also previously employed as a sportswriter and was promoted to Sports Editor at the Oneonta Daily Star newspaper prior to entering the field of college athletic management.
Sodoma has a Master’s degree in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Ohio University. He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Eastern College Atheltic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA).
Sodoma hires Colby student workers to assist in the Sports Information Department. He has had three Warren J. Finegan Award winners for significant behind the scenes contributions to the success of Colby athletics. Chris Gallogly ’16 earned the award in 2016 after making an impact in just one year in the department. Dustin Satloff ’15 was another Finegan Award winner at the 2015 senior awards ceremony for his terrific photography work. Cliff White ’07J was Sodoma’s first Finegan Award winner. Alexa Lindauer ’07 worked with the department for three years and was the Sports Editor of Colby’s student newspaper.
Sodoma lives in Sidney, Maine, with his wife and their four children.
