Richard, Schoepke each earn first FIS wins at Sugarloaf, Sunday River

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine -- Maximillian Richard and Sandy Schoepke each won their first FIS races for the Colby College alpine ski teams in events at Sugarloaf and Sunday River on Tuesday.
 
Richard won the giant slalom in the Eastern Development Series race at Sugarloaf, while Schoepke took the slalom in her race at Sunday River.
 
Richard had runs of 1:00.67 and 59.39 for a two-run total time of 2:00.06. Colby teammate Jack Auty placed fourth in 2:01.61, Cam Price took fifth with a 2:01.79, Colbey Derwin had a seventh in 2:01.90, and Matt Wilson clocked a 2:02.0 over his two runs.
 
Schoepke (pictured) clocked times of 36.68 and 37.82 for a winning two-run time of 1:14.50. First-year Rosie Hust took third place in 1:15.13 and fellow first-years Lily Hogan (1:17.10) and Julia Chahine (1:17.16) were 18th and 19th.
