Schoepke, Reinhart, Wilson lead alpine skiers in giant slalom

STOWE, Vt. -- Sandy Schoepke placed 12th for the Colby College women's alpine ski  team and Matt Wilson finished 16th for the men in the giant slalom in racing at the University of Vermont Carnival on Friday.

Schoepke had times of 1:07.38 and 1:07.06 for a two-run total time of 2:14.44. She helped the women finish in fifth place with 76 points, ahead of Bates College, Williams College, and Middlebury College.
 
Jessica Reinhart and Rosie Hust added top-20 finishes for the women. Reinhart went 2:14.72 over her two runs to take 15th, while Hust had a 2:17.09 for 20th place.
 
Sophia Sherman had a fine 1:06.94 opening run for the Mules, but had a DNF on her second trip on the hill.
 
Wilson (pictured), a first-year, posted another solid result by taking 16th with runs of 1:02.75 and 1:04.04 for a two-run total time of 2:06.79.
 
Max Richard was the only other Colby men's skier to complete two runs. He placed 17th in 2:07.33. With just two of three places scoring, the Mules placed eighth overall.
