Hust wins FIS slalom races for Colby women's alpine ski team

NEWRY, Maine -- Colby College sophomore Rosie Hust was strong in her first season with the Mules last year and is off to a winning start in preseason racing for the women's alpine ski team.

Hust won the slalom both days in FIS racing at Sunday River Resort on Saturday and Sunday. She had runs of 45.43 and 47.10 for a total time of 1:32.53 in Saturday's competition. Hust, who placed in the top-10 in five of the six slalom races last year during the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) season, finished Sunday with a 1:38.47 total time with trips of 50.18 and 48.29.
 
Sandra Schoepke gave the Mules two women on the podium Sunday. She placed third overall in 1:39.62 with runs of 51.30 and 48.32. Schoepke was seventh Saturday for the Mules in 1:33.15 on runs of 44.80 and 48.75. 
 
Julia Chahine was eighth Saturday on runs of 45.95 and 47.21 for a total of 1:33.16. Rylee McCormack placed 22nd for Colby.
 
In Sunday's racing, Lily Hogan took 19th place with a 1:42.77 total and McCormack was 28th in 1:44.54.
 
Bates, Middlebury, Williams, St. Lawrence, New Hampshire, Saint Michael's, Plymouth State, Harvard, Boston College, and Colby-Sawyer also competed at the event.
