Alpine skiers Hust, Schoepke will compete at NCAA meet

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College junior women's alpine skier Sandy Schoepke (Stowe, Vt.) will race at home at the NCAA Division I Skiing Championships and teammate Rosie Hust (Long Lake, Minn.) returns to the national meet for the second straight year.

The NCAA meet will be held at Stowe Mountain Resort on Thursday, March 7, and Saturday, March 9. The Mules and Schoepke, who is from Stowe, will be comfortable skiing at a familiar venue.

Schoepke (pictured) and Hust both had success earlier this season at the University of Vermont Carnival. Schoepke placed sixth in the slalom and 12th in the giant slalom, while Hust was eighth in the slalom.

During the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) season, Schoepke had five finishes in the top 10 and eight total in the top 15. She had five of the eight in the giant slalom.

Hust, who has had seven top-10 finishes in the slalom the past two years, received some important NCAA experience a year ago. She placed 27th in the slalom, but was eighth after the opening run. Hust, who also was 29th in the giant slalom, had trouble on her second run.
