Baseball falls in first game after 6-0 start to the season

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The winning streak is over for the Colby College baseball team after falling 11-1 to the University of St. Thomas in non-conference play in Florida on Wednesday.

he Mules drop to 6-1 after opening 6-0 for the only time since the NESCAC went to a playoff system for the 2001 season.
 
By the numbers
* Chris Romano, who went 1-for-2 on the day, lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to bring in Tyler Mulberry with the lone Colby run in the fourth inning.
 
* William Wessman led all Colby hitters with two. Matt Mitchell had one hit, while Andrew Russell walked and was hit by a pitch.
 
Game highlights
* The Mules only trailed 3-1 after scoring their single run in the top of the fourth inning.
 
* St. Thomas pulled away with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

* The Mules get a well-deserved day off Thursday before playing a doubleheader against Williams College on Friday at noon.
