WATERVILLE, Maine -- Hannah Hearn (Auburn, Maine) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lift the Colby College field hockey team to a 6-0 win over University of Maine at Farmington in non-conference play Wednesday night at Bill Alfond Field.
The Mules only led 1-0 at halftime despite a 15-1 margin in shots. Colby had a 28-5 shot advantage for the game and a 13-4 edge in penalty corners.
Hearn scored two goals in a span of 35 seconds to help the Mules pull away. Her first goal at 41:45 of the contest came on a direct path to the goal, using her speed off her stick-work to create space and hit a low shot into the left corner. The second goal was at 42:20 off a pass from Keenan on a play started by a penalty corner from Hearn, who has four goals and five assists.
Riley Whitmyer (Bentleyville, Ohio) had one save for her first collegiate shutout. Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine) had seven of her nine saves in the opening half for UMF.
