Griffith second for golfers in strong third-place finish at Maine meet

AUBURN, Maine -- Colby College first-year Jack Griffith finished in second place and the Mules placed third as a team at the Maine Intercollegiate Golf Championships on Sunday at Martindale Country Club.

The Mules had a terrific day, finishing with a 308 total in moving from sixth place Saturday to third place. The team total was second Sunday to Husson University's 302.

"It was a great day for the golf program," said Chris Hall, Colby's fourth-year head coach. "Jack finishing in second place and the team total we shot was the best score in my time as coach."

The Mules were just one stroke out of second place with a two-day total score of 631. Husson won the title with a 591 and Bates College was runner-up at 630. The Bobcats were playing on their home course in Auburn. Colby beat fourth-place finisher Bowdoin College by four strokes.
