Men's basketball at 3-0 after local victory over Thomas, 83-70

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College men's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the young season and took some Waterville bragging rights after an 83-70 victory over Thomas College on Tuesday night.

Patrick Stewart, the tournament MVP of the Colby Classic this past weekend, had 19 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field and an 8-of-8 effort from the foul line. 
 

First-year guard Ronan Scwarz (pictured) shot 7-for-8 from the field for 14 points, while Maximilian Steiner added 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field. Steven Daley had his best collegiate game with seven points and a game-high eight rebounds. Sean Gilmore and Sam Jefferson also had seven points.

The Terriers (2-2) received a terrific game from Tyheem Simon, who had a game-high 26 points on 10-for-15 shooting, six rebounds, and four assists. Jordan Derosby added 11 points and six rebounds, Willie Grant was 4-for-5 from the field for nine points, and Carlos Gonzalez chipped in eight points. Ian King led all players with seven assists.
 

The Mules, who had a 47-32 halftime lead, had a 45-27 rebounding advantage and had 34 points from their bench.
