Hudnut, Stewart both make Maine All-State Team

WATERVILLE, Maine — Colby College’s Chris Hudnut (Chevy Chase, Md.) was selected to the Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches and Writers Association All-State First Team for the third straight year and teammate Patrick Stewart (Bangor, Maine) made the second team.

Hudnut was the Maine Division III Rookie of the Year and was on the All-Rookie Team as a first-year with the Mules. He has already earned New England Small College Athletic Conference Second Team honors this season.

Hudnut was seventh in the NESCAC in scoring (15.7), ninth in field goal percentage (51.6), and 12th in rebounding (6.5). He finished his career at Colby ranked 11th all-time in scoring (1,403 points) and added 634 rebounds.

Stewart missed his entire junior season due to injury, but came back strong for the 2016-16 season. He led the NESCAC in 3-point shooting (52.3 percent) and would be second in free-throw percentage (88.7), but Stewart is one make shy of the minimum set by the league. He also was 12th in the league in conference game scoring (13.7), 11th in field goal percentage (50.3), and 18th in rebounding (5.9).

Stewart had 767 career points, 455 rebounds, and 129 made 3-point shots in three years.

Colby finished the season with a 16-9 record and were second in the final Maine Division III poll.
