Jefferson earns Maine Player of the Week honor

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College guard Sam Jefferson (Newton, Mass.), who made the all-tournament team at the University of California at Santa Cruz Tournament, was honored as the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) Player of the Week on Thursday.

Jefferson averaged 15.3 points, shot 52 percent from the field (14-for-27), 44 percent from 3-point range (8-for-18), and 91 percent (10-for-11) from the foul line in a 2-1 week for the Mules. He had 20 points while shooting 60 percent from the field and 57 percent from long range in a victory over Dominican University.
 
Jefferson ranks 15th in the NESCAC in scoring (14.8), sixth in free throw percentage (92.3), and sixth in made field goals per game (2.8).
 
The Mules are the top-ranked team in the latest Maine Division III poll.
