Ashley earns All-NESCAC honor

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College sophomore Ethan Ashley (Philadelphia, Pa.), who sits in the seventh spot for the men's crew, was named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Rowing All-Conference Second Team on Wednesday.

Ashley helped the Mules finish 10th at the National Intercollegiate Rowing Championships, ninth at the New England Championships, and lead Colby to a tri-meet win over University of New Hampshire and University of Vermont.

Ashley was one of only two sophomores to make the all-conference team.

The seventh spot in the boat sits directly behind the stroke and is typically both skilled and fit. The rower's job is emulate the rhythm of the stroke and act as a buffer between the stroke and the rest of the crew.
