Men's crew takes 13th at national regatta race

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Colby College men’s varsity 8 moved up one place to 13th overall and won the third final race at the National Invitational Rowing Championships on Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond.

Colby won the third final (places 13 to 18) in 6:14.972 to defeat Hamilton, Marist, University of Massachusetts, University of New Hampshire, and Tufts. The Mules finished 14th at last year’s national meet.
The Mules finished in fifth place in the third heat in 6:43.033, just missing out on the Petite Final (places 7 to 12).
 
Colby’s varsity 8 boat included: Susannah Donoho ’17 (coxswain), Liam Rex ’19, Ethan Ashley ’19, Fred Bower ’17, Luke Yasuda ’17, Will Gross ’18, Henry Holtzer ’17, Roger Stone ’17, and Christian Papadellis ’18.
In second varsity 8 racing, Colby placed 15th overall after taking third place in the third final (places 13-17) in 6:31.932.
The second varsity crew included: Lily Wain ’19 (coxswain), Daniel Meyer ’16, Ben Swift ’18, Dan Spellman ’18, Cole Stevens ’16, Jake Abbe-Schneider ’19, Andrew Egger ’18, Chris Marcello ’19, and Paul Dougherty ’16.
