AMHERST, Mass. -- The 14th-ranked Colby College men's hockey team lost a second straight one-goal game after falling 3-2 to Amherst College in NESCAC play Saturday.
Colby (5-4-1 overall, 4-3-1 NESCAC) converted on its first power play opportunity of the game at 9:36 of the first period for a 1-0 lead. Corralling the loose puck near the left face-off dot, EJ Rauseo connected with Cam MacDonald on the far post for a redirection shot that went high. Devin Albert also had an assist on the play.
Amherst (7-3-1, 3-3-1 NESCAC) went ahead 2-1 when Patrick Daly scored just 54 seconds into the third period on the power play.
The Mules cut the lead to 3-2 with 5:53 remaining in the game on J.P. Schuhlen's second of the season from Mark Leprine. Schuhlen (pictured) gained position in the low slot and one-timed a pass from Leprine past goaltender Connor Girard.
Colby had a 33-18 shot advantage in the game, but Girard stopped 31 shots. Andrew Tucci made 15 saves for the Mules.
