Sullivan named to National Team of the Week

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College's Geoff Sullivan (Topsfield, Mass.) was named to the Men's Hockey National Team of the Week on Wednesday.

Sullivan was one of two defensemen in NCAA Division III hockey to be honored for his play. One goaltender and three forwards also were selected.

Sullivan was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week on Monday.

Sullivan, a co-captain, had the overtime goal in a 2-1 victory over Middlebury on Friday and then had an assist on the game-winning goal in 4-1 win over 13th-ranked Williams on Saturday.

Sullivan's blast from near the right boards at 2:11 of overtime was the winner against Middlebury. With the score 1-1 against Williams in the second period, Sullivan had an assist on the winning goal in a game where Colby scored twice in the final three minutes to pull away.

Sullivan was part of a defense that allowed just two goals with first-year goaltender Andrew Tucci. He has five goals and 31 assists for 36 career points.

Utica College's Zach Borsol was the other defender with Sullivan in the Team of the Week. St. Norbert goalie TJ Black also was honored. Forwards were Jack Lewis of Lake Forest, Tyler Warila of Fitchburg State, and Curry College's Tyler VanKleef.
