Burton named to All-NESCAC First Team for men's hockey

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College senior defenseman Jack Burton (Baltimore, Md.), who was second on the Mules in scoring, was named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Hockey All-Conference First Team on Tuesday.

While the Mules have had players on the second team in past years, Burton is the first Colby player to be on the first team since Arthur Fritch '08, T.J. Kelley '08, and Josh Reber '08 all made the team for the 2007-08 season.

Burton finished the season with six goals and 16 assists for 22 points and had a team-high five power play goals. He currently ranks ninth in the country in points per game (0.96) for a defenseman.

Burton, who finished his career with 18 goals and 34 assists for 52 career points, came up big in key wins for the Mules. Trailing 4-3 at home to Bowdoin, Burton scored the tying goal and assisted on the game-winning score in a 5-4 win. He also had an assist on the tying goal in a 2-1 win at Bowdoin. Burton helped the Mules to a huge 3-2 win at home against Tufts by assisting on the game-winning goal with 1:43 remaining.

Burton helped the Mules finish 13-7-4 overall and finish second in the NESCAC with an 11-4-3 league record.
