Decker named All-NESCAC for men's hockey

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College senior defenseman Michael Decker (Algonquin, Ill.), who ranks third in the conference in power play points, was named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Conference Second Team on Tuesday.

Decker, always strong defensively, has had a breakout offensive season. He heads into Saturday's NESCAC Final Four with three goals and 14 assists for 17 points.

"Mike had a fabulous season," Colby head coach Blaise MacDonald said. "He played with great passion and commitment all season and not only was tough defensively, but generated a great deal offensively.  His point totals from last season to this year tell you the story."

Decker ranks second in the NESCAC in defensemen scoring, third in power play points (3 goals, 6 assists), and sixth in the league in total assists. He showed up for big games, with 14 of his 17 points coming in conference contests.

Decker heads into the weekend with six goals and 31 assists for 37 career points. The Mules take on Wesleyan University in the conference semifinals on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Trinity College.
