Men's soccer gives No. 2 Amherst tough battle

WATERVILLE, Maine — The Colby College men’s soccer team battled to a scoreless tie for more than 71 minutes with second-ranked Amherst College, but the Lord Jeffs scored twice the rest of the way in a NESCAC victory Saturday.

The Lord Jeffs moved to 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference, while the Mules drop to 3-7-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the league.
Amherst has allowed just two goals in 12 games. The Mules needed to keep the Lord Jeffs scoreless for a shot at an upset win. Colby was able to do it until Nico Pascual-Leone scored at 71:49.
Greg Singer added the other goal from Aidan Murray at 86:57 to close out the victory.
John Pappas stopped seven shots in goal for Colby, which had four shots. Jansen Aoyama had two shots for the Mules and Cam Clouse and Jacob Tower each had one.
Amherst goalkeeper Thomas Bull stopped two shots.
