Men's soccer loses league battle to Polar Bears

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- After losing to Colby College two years ago and playing to a 0-0 tie last year, the Bowdoin College men's soccer team scored twice in the second half on the way to a 2-0 victory in NESCAC play Sunday.

The Polar Bears (6-3-2 overall, 2-3-1 NESCAC) lost 1-0 to Colby two years ago in Waterville and the teams battled to a 0-0 overtime tie last year in Brunswick.
After 45 minutes of play, Bowdoin still had not scored a goal until Jake Stenquist tallied at 53:51 for what to be the game-winning score. Riley Bubb had a shot from the 18-yard line and Stenquist tipped the ball into the net.
The Polar Bears added an insurance goal at 62:44 of the foot of Matt Dias Costa, who scored from the left side just inside the 18-yard line.
Noah Safian made five of his six saves in the second half for the Polar Bear shutout. Avery Gibson made 10 stops, including six in the first half for Colby (3-6-2, 1-4-2 NESCAC).
