Rosenberg named NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College senior captain Jeff Rosenberg (Bethesda, Md./Economics major), who helped the men's soccer team win the league title this weekend, was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

Rosenberg scored the opening two goals of the game to help the eighth-seeded Mules to a 3-1 conference semifinal victory over host Amherst College on Saturday. He also was dangerous offensively and had Colby's best scoring chance in the game in a 0-0 tie with Williams College in the title game. The Mules went on to take a 4-3 penalty-kick shootout victory.

In the Amherst game, Rosenberg scored at 9:18 of the first half off an assist from Asa Berolzheimer to get the Mules off to a good start. With a 1-0 halftime lead, Rosenberg tallied just 1:29 into the second half after he scored from in front thanks to a long throw-in from teammate Cam Clouse.

Rosenberg, who earned All-NESCAC Second Team honors last year, has eight goals and four assists for 20 career points.

Rosenberg and the Mules will play an opening round game in the NCAA Division III Tournament this Saturday at 5 p.m. at host seventh-ranked Montclair State.
