Men's squash earns wins over Hobart, Conn College

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Colby College fourth position player Alex Kurtin won all three of his matches against Connecticut College, Hobart College and Dickinson College in men's squash at Wesleyan University.
 
The Mules (2-2 overall) won 9-0 over Conn College in Sunday's match. Colby took a 7-2 win Friday night over Hobart College, the first win for new head coach Chris Abplanalp at Colby. Dickinson took an 8-1 victory in the other match.
 
Kurtin took a 12-10, 5-11, 11-5, 13-11 win in the Dickinson match. He also won in straight sets against Hobart and Conn College.
 
Colby also received wins against Hobart from Chase Holding (third position), Jason Brodo (5), Ryan Santoro (6), Tyler Burt (7), Duda Voldman (8), and Kaiyu Xi (9).
 
Holding took an exciting come-from-behind win at the third spot. He fell 11-9 and 11-1 in the opening two sets, but stormed back for 11-8, 11-8, 11-6 set victories. 
 
Burt, Voldman, and Xi captured 3-1 victories. Burt and Xi each had 16-14 set wins. Elliot Gross, Alex Spafford, Bodo, and Santoro had 3-0 wins against Conn College.
