Men's swimming and diving at 6-2 after beating Wesleyan, Trinity

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Carter Garfield won the 100-yard breaststroke, Ryan Bedell stayed dominant in the 1,000 freestyle, and Travers Losert took the 1-meter diving for the Colby College men's swimming and diving team in wins over Wesleyan University and Trinity College on Saturday.

The Mules are 6-2 overall, including a stretch of 5-1 over the last six dual meets. Colby will swim at home against Bowdoin College next Saturday at noon in the regular season finale.
 
Garfield had a time of 1:00.14 to take the 100 breaststroke. Bedell, who won the 500 freestyle on Friday, took the 1,000 in 9:52.13. Losert won on the 1-meter board with a score of 270.20.
 
Bedell was third in the 400 individual medley (4:19.80).  Losert also had a third on the 3-meter board (238.65).
 
Xander Geiersbach contributed a second in the 200 backstroke (1:57.75) and finished third in the 100 backstroke (54.84). Jack MacPhee, a first-year, was third in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.37).
 
In Friday's swimming, Bedell had a time of 4:47.57 in winning the 500 freestyle. Bowdoin first-year Geoffrey Chen was second in 4:48.36.
 
Garfield had a second in the 50 breaststroke (27.60) and was third in the 100 individual medley (54.63) for the Mules. Geiersbach was third in the 50 backstroke (25.47).
