Both swimming and diving teams earn academic honors

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College men and women each earned the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honor for the 20th straight year.

The Colby women had a team grade point average of 3.54, while the men had a 3.48. Head coach Tom Burton's men's and women's teams have been honored every year during his time at Colby. The women stayed at 3.54 for the second straight year, while the men moved up from a 3.33 average last year.
 
The men had the 12th-best grade point average of the NCAA Division III schools honored. The Colby women were 29th among those honored.
 
Teams needed at least a 3.0 grade point average and maintain a roster of 12 or more swimmers and divers. 
 
Colby will have its final two home meets of the season this weekend. The Mules entertain Wesleyan University at 1 p.m. Saturday and Trinity College for a noon start Sunday.
