Reid and Murad won the 'A' doubles draw at the Wallach Invitational by defeating Glover/Quijano from Bates 9-7 in the semifinals and then posting an easier 8-3 win over Ng/Aizenberg of Brandeis in the final.

Murad and Reid (picture, Reid on left) won the 'A' doubles title two years ago at the tourney, but the Mules did not participate last year and the pair finished their careers undefeated at the Wallach in the last three years.

Back in Waterville, Shaw Speer, Nam Le, Jonathan Hallal, Sam Hoenig, and Alex Thrane won singles matches for Colby (2-0). Hoenig and Thrane joined forces for a victory at third doubles. Luis Gonzalez Kompalic and Jeremy Mendoza were winners at second doubles.

In Saturday's first day at the Wallach Invitational, Speer and Cam Hillier beat a team from Trinity by an 8-0 score in the opening round and fell 8-6 to a team from Bowdoin in 'B' doubles play.
Mendoza teamed with Gonzalez Komaplic for an 8-0 win over Skidmore, but then fell 8-6 in the quarterfinals from a Tufts doubles squad. Le and Hallal lost 8-6 to a team from Bowdoin in opening round play of 'B' doubles. Colby's other team in the A flight was Scott Altmeyer and Zale Shah who fell 8-3 to Bates in the opening round.

In singles Reid won his opening round over Glover of Bates before falling to Kai Yeun Leung of Skidmore 7-6 7-5. Leung was the second-ranked player in the Northeast Region last year and finished eighth in the country and went on to win the 'A' draw for singles. Altmeyer picked up a nice 6-0 6-0 win over Yadav from Bates in the opening round before falling in a close 3-6 6-3 10-8 match to Lucas Pickering of Skidmore, who also went on to win the 'B' singles flight.
