Men's tennis tops Trinity for 1st time since NESCAC began playoff system

WATERVILLE, Maine --  Jeremy Mendoza and Luis Gonzalez both battled back from a set down to earn victories for the Colby College men's tennis team in a 9-0 victory over Trinity College on Saturday.

The Mules improved to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the NESCAC. Colby fell 6-3 to the Bantams two years ago and had not beaten Trinity since the NESCAC started playoffs for their sports in the 2000-2001 academic year.
 
Mendoza and Gonzalez both won 6-2 in the second set. Mendoza took a 10-3 win in a pro-set tiebreaker and Gonzalez won by a 10-7 score.
 
Scott Altmeyer won in straight sets at first singles and Sumukh Pathi gave up just five games at second singles. Garrett Reiter (pictured) also won his singles match at the third spot.
 
Altmeyer and Pathi won 8-2 at first doubles, Mendoza and Gonzalez took an 8-3 win at second doubles, and Speer and Reiter were winners at third doubles.
