Chelimo finishes fifth, Summers and relay team break records

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- David Chelimo took fifth place in the 1,500-meter run and teammate Landon Summers was sixth and again broke his own school record in the 110 hurdles for Colby College at the Open New England Men's Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

Colby's 1,600 relay team also broke their own school record by placing fourth overall. 

Chelimo (pictured) had a time of 3 minutes, 54.26 seconds in taking third among Division III runners. He also placed 24th in the 800 meters in 1:55.95.

Summers finished third among Division III hurdlers with a time of 14.72. He set the school record on Friday with a 14.76 in a preliminary race.

Sage Bailin, Brian Sommers, Pedro Caballero, and Marcques Houston had a time of 3:14.63. The foursome had set the record a week ago with a 3:16.90 in taking the New England Division III title. The Mules were second among Division III schools and finished about one second ahead of University of Maine.

Bailin broke 55 seconds in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.99 while placing fifth among Division III athletes and 14th overall. Colby's school record in the event is 54.09 set by Tyrone Boucard in 1998.
