Men's cross country 16th at Westfield State meet

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Tommy Griffith finished 52nd and Eli Tukel took 92nd place out of 432 finishers at the James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park on Saturday.


Griffith had a time of 27:02.06 in the 8-kilometer race to help the Mules finish in 16th place out of 41 scoring teams. 
Tukel clocked a 27:44.36 and Robert Campbell placed 101st in 27:49.61. 
All of Colby's runners finished in the top 200. Abe Pineda was 124th in 28:06.75, Robert Dettmann had a 28:23.15 for 143rd, Jake Lester was 163rd in 28:37.83, Sam Crimmins took 175th in 28:46.54, Liam McDonough clocked a 28:55.40 for 182nd, and Alan Ottenstein was 199th in 29:09.47.
The Mules were without a number of leading runners. The State of Maine Championships are next Saturday at St. Joseph's College and Colby will host the NESCAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Quarry Road Trails.
