Silas skied, ran cross country, and competed in track and field at Fryeburg Academy. His mother, Jeanne, was a varsity athlete at Colby.
Silas is majoring in Studio Art with a minor in Religious Studies.
2017 Nordic ski season highlights: Eastman finished in the top 10 at nearly every meet this season, including a third place in the 10K at the Eastern Cup opener. He finished eighth at the Eastern Championships and finished in 18th and 25th in his events at the NCAA Division I Championships. Silas, a co-captain, was named to the All-East Second Team and the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team. Silas also earned the Donald P. Lake Award for athletic ability, leadership, and academic accomplishment at Colby's Senior Awards Ceremony.
2016 Nordic ski season highlights: Silas was named to the Maine All-State First Team and the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team. Eastman had a strong finish to his season, finishing 12th in the 10K race and 18th in the 20K race at the Eastern Championships. He had a best finish of 13th in the Vermont Carnival 10K, 19th in the Dartmouth Carnival 20K, and 22nd at the Williams Carnival.
2015 cross country season highlights: Eastman won the Maine State title, earned All-NESCAC honors for placing 10th at the league meet, took 11th at the New England Division III meet, and 128th at the NCAA event. He opened the season by finishing third in the Bates junior/senior race and was 24th at the Lehigh Invitational. Silas was on the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team.
2015 Nordic ski season highlights: Eastman competed in all carnivals and had a best finish of fourth in a 10K event at St. Michael's. Eastman's other top finishes include 12th at a 20K race at Bates and 12th in a 10K race at Middlebury. At the Eastern Championships, Eastman finished 18th in the 10K event and 20th in the 20K race. He was on the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team.
2014 cross country season highlights: Silas was sixth at the NESCAC Championships to be named All-NESCAC First Team. At the New England Division III Championships, Eastman finished 13th, giving him All-New England honors as well. At the NCAA Division III Championships, Eastman finished 39th, helping the Mules finish fifth in the country. Silas opened the season by taking seventh at the first-year/sophomore race at Bates. Silas then took 10th at the Middlebury Invitational to lead all Mules. Eastman finished 18th at the Williams Invitational
2014 Nordic ski season highlights: Silas competed in all carnivals, finishing well at the Eastern Championships with an 18th in the 10-kilometer classic and 25th in the 20K free skate mass start. His best finish of the season was 17th in the 10K classic in the Williams event. Eastman also was 21st in the 10K classic at Quarry Road Trails and 24th in the 20K classic at Dartmouth.
2013 cross country season highlights: Eastman took second at the first-year/sophomore race at Bates, and followed that finish by taking 35th at the University of Southern Maine Invitational. Eastman then took 12th at the Williams Invitational, fifth at the Maine State Championships, and 12th at the NESCAC Championships to be named All-NESCAC Second Team.
