Egger places 10th in sprint freestyle race at U.S. nationals

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Colby College Nordic skier Andrew Egger finished 10th in the nation in the freestyle sprint event at the 2018 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships on Friday.

Egger (pictured) had a time of three minutes, 13.54 seconds. Egger was first in the under-23 class.
 
Foss Kerker placed 71st in 3:23.47 and Carter Hall took 73rd in 3:23.52.
 
In women's sprint racing, Claire Waichler took 53rd place for the Mules in 3:41.32. Marin Coletta had a time of 3:49.52 to finish 100th.
 
Coletta placed 67th in the women's 10-kilometer freestyle race Wednesday. She had a time of 31:45.6, while Waichler placed 81st in 32:10.9. Skylar Tupper finished 93rd for Colby in 32:45.5.
 
In the men's 15-kilometer freestyle on Wednesday, Kerker was the top Colby finisher in 41:29.0 for 77th place. Hall placed 87th out of 178 finishers in 41:59.2.
 
Mostly Colby first-year and sophomore racers made the trip to Alaska to try and qualify for the junior world championships or junior nationals.
