Women's basketball defeats Thomas

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's basketball team had a balanced scoring night, led by first-year Ainsley Burns (pictured) , in a 73-46 victory over Thomas College on Tuesday night.

The Mules (2-1 overall) received 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists from Burns. Sophomore Katie McCrum added 10 points, four boards, and four assists. Paige Russell, another first-year player, had 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

The Mules shot 50 percent (29-for-58) from the field, 52.6 percent from 3-point range (10-for-19), had a 39-29 rebounding advantage, and had assists on 22 of their 29 field goals.

Colby also received eight points, a game-high eight rebounds, and four assists from Haley Driscoll, while Caitlyn Nolan and Sarah Hancock both had six points and two assists. Cameron Kelso, MK Caverly, and Jackie Albanese all had five points.

Abby Nielsen finished with a game-high 16 points to lead Thomas. Jordan Turner finished with eight points and five assists, while Amira Jones had eight points.
