Women's basketball falls in semifinal game to No. 1 Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. -- MK Caverly finished with 13 points in her final collegiate game for the Colby College women's basketball team in a 53-33 loss to top-ranked Amherst College in a NESCAC semifinal game Saturday.

Amherst, the top seed and now 26-0 overall, led 26-14 at halftime and then pulled away with a 19-9 third quarter.

Caverly also had three assists and three steals. Caitlyn Nolan (pictured), also playing her final game, added seven points. Katie McCrum added six points and three assists, while Ainsley Burns had a game-high eight rebounds and two blocked shots.

Emma McCarthy led the Purple & White with 18 points on 7-for-8 shooting and five rebounds. She also had three blocked shots and three steals. Ali Doswell added eight points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Amherst held the Mules to 21.7 percent shooting from the field and had a 40-24 rebounding advantage.
