WATERVILLE, Maine -- A day after earning the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Colby College junior center Emily Davis (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) was honored as Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday.
The Mules started the weekend in a tie for ninth place in the league, with the top eight teams making the playoffs. Colby went 2-0, received some help, and came out as the fifth seed.
With forward line mate Haley Driscoll out of the line-up against Wesleyan, Davis played 39 minutes and scored 17 points, had five rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Against Conn College, Davis added 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. With the Camels cutting the margin to 40-30, Davis had a three-point play to put Colby up 43-30 heading into the fourth quarter. Her defense helped the Mules hold the two NESCAC opponents to a combined 39.5 points in the two contests.
With Davis starting this year, the Mules averaged nearly two more rebounds per game and held the opponent to 3.9 points fewer a contest over last year.
