Women's basketball falls in title game

CASTINE, Maine -- Jackie Albanese (pictured) scored a collegiate-high 15 points for the Colby College women's basketball team in a 64-44 loss to Maine Maritime Academy in the title game of the Mariner Classic on Saturday. 

Albanese hit three 3-point shots and went 6-for-13 from the field. Haley Driscoll added six points and three rebounds for the Mules (1-1), while MK Caverly had five points, three rebounds, and two assists. Sarah Hancock and Cameron Kelso both scored four points.
Albanese made the all-tournament team along with teammate Emily Davis, who led Colby to a season-opening win over Rensselaer on Friday.

Maine Maritime (2-1) shot 58.3 percent from the field in the game. The Mariners led 18-2 after the first quarter, but the Mules battled back to cut the margin to 31-20 at halftime.

Alayne Felix finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals for MMA. Chloe Smedley shot 8-for-10 from the field and had 16 points. 

The Mules will play at Thomas College on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
