WATERVILLE, Maine -- Halley Fine (pictured) made 33 saves in goal for the Colby College women's hockey team, but Wesleyan University took advantage of a Mule penalty just 31 seconds into the game with a power play goal and pulled away for a 3-0 victory in NESCAC women's hockey on Friday at Alfond Rink.
Colby had an early tripping penalty and Wesleyan made them pay at 2:04 of the first period. Jessica Brennan's shot from the right point was tipped in by Hailey Sholty, who had her third goal of the year.
The Cardinals added an empty net goal with just 1:07 to play. Ellery Sarosi put pressure on a Mule defender near the blue line. The puck hit off Sarosi's stick to Rutt, who scored from the blue line into the empty net.
