Women's lacrosse team, three players earn academic honors

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College, the defending New England Small College Athletic Conference champions, was one of 300 teams to earn the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad award.

Colby graduates Chrissy Coveney and Celeste Murtha joined rising senior Madeleine Hatch in earning the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll award.
 

Colby's team needed at least a 3.0 grade point average for the year to earn the Academic Honor Squad award.

Players need to be of at least junior standing and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 to earn the honor roll award.
 

Coveney had two goals, two assists, four ground balls, and two draw controls during her senior season.

Murtha had five goals on six shots, one assist, seven ground balls, and five draw controls. 
 

Hatch was fourth on the Mules in scoring with 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points. She ranked 13th in the NESCAC in assists and 14th in draw controls (38). Hatch also had 24 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.

Colby won its third NESCAC title in 10 years during the 2017 season.
