WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's lacrosse team -- the 2017 champions of the New England Small College Athletic Conference under head coach Karen Henning --  received their rings on Saturday at halftime of the football game at Seaverns Field at Harold Alfond Stadium.

Colby President David Greene handed out the championship rings and received a ring from captains Emilie Klein '17, Georgia Lubrano '17, and Lexie Perticone '17.

"Colby is immensely proud of what Karen and this team accomplished last year," said Jake Olkkola, Colby's Harold Alfond Director of Athletics. "Making sure they were properly recognized was really important."

Colby's seniors from the 2017 team returned for the ceremony, and only a few players missed the event due to studying abroad. The players and coaches had a tailgate event before the football game with their families and friends of the program.

"I am so thankful that we had an opportunity to recognize this amazing group of young women and the commitment and effort they made to making this team the very best it could be," Henning said. "Although we missed our juniors who were abroad, we were so happy to have all of our graduates back to celebrate."

The program had a prospect day from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday and a prospect clinic Sunday, led by Henning and assistant coaches Renee Olsen and Rebecca Lampson.

The Mules won the program's third NESCAC title with a championship game win over Trinity College in May. Colby finished 15-4 overall and made the NCAA Division III Tournament for the ninth time since 2006.
