Colby Women's Lacrosse has earned an at-large bid to play in the NCAA tournament. The team travels to The College of New Jersey for their first-round matchup on Sunday, May 12th, at 1:00 PM (EST).
Colby's play in the ultra-competitive NESCAC secured their spot in the national tournament. Of 11 available at large bids, five went to NESCAC schools.
Colby, who returns to the tournament after a year's hiatus, has played TCNJ only once, when the two teams met in the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2013. With no recent history for context, this looks to be a close matchup. The Mules (9-6) are currently ranked 15th in the country in the in IWLCA Coaches Poll. The Lions (13-5) sit one spot behind in 16th.
Colby enters the tournament playing some of their best lacrosse of the season. Though they suffered a setback in the first round of the NESCAC tournament in a tightly contested game against #7 Wesleyan, the Mules took their last two games of the regular season in commanding fashion against nationally ranked Trinity (#17) and Bates (#25). The Lions come into the tournament having won their ninth straight NJAC Championship. Last year, the team fell to Middlebury in the national semifinal game.
