WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's soccer team fell behind early to Middlebury College as the Panthers took a 3-0 victory in NESCAC play Saturday.
Katherine Hobbs scored in the fourth minute of play to give Middlebury what turned out to be the game-winning goal.
The Mules drop to 3-5 and 0-5 in the league, while the Panthers move to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Hobbs, who had a team-best four shots, scored from Emma Shumway at 4:21 of the first half. The Panthers made it 2-0 at halftime when Adrianna Gildner tallied at 28:27 from a one-touch from Amy Martin.
Amanda Dafonte put in a rebound for Middlebury's third goal off a shot from Ellie Greenberg late in the game.
Sam Rizzo made seven saves in goal for the Mules. The Panthers had a 15-3 shot advantage.
