Arnold, Barry lead women's soccer to easy win over USM, 6-0

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Laura Arnold and Elizabeth Barry both scored a pair of goals as Colby College had a quick start in a 6-0 victory over University of Southern Maine in non-conference women's soccer Wednesday.

The Mules improve to 3-3-1 overall, while the Huskies fall to 2-6.
 
Game highlights
* Arnold scored both of her goals in the opening 9:09 of play. Sofia Oliveira had a cross from the left side at 3:37 on Arnold's first goal. Emily Martin had the assist on the second goal with a cross from the right side.
 
* Colby went up 3-0 at 22:39 of the opening half on Kara Wilson's first goal of the season. Hannah Brozdowski's cross from the right side was hit into the right post by Southern Maine goalkeeper Olivia Mull. The ball bounced right to Wilson, who poked the ball into the right corner of the net.
 
* The Mules went up 4-0 at halftime on another cross from the right side by Brozdowski. Ally Ingraham (pictured) positioned herself perfectly and headed in the score.
 
* Barry scored the final two goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half. Arnold had a centering pass to Ingraham, who chested the ball down and immediately pushed the ball to Barry for the goal at 51:37. Just a few minutes later, Barry had a long blast for her third goal of the year.
 
By the numbers
* Colby goalkeeper Shannon Gray earned her first collegiate shutout and victory with two saves.
 
* USM goalkeeper Olivia Mull made eight saves in her first start of the season.
 
* The Mules had a 26-3 shot advantage and a 5-0 margin in corner kicks.
