Women's squash will play for seventh place on Sunday

AMHERST, Mass. -- The ninth-seeded Colby College women's squash team will have an opportunity to finish in seventh place in the NESCAC Championships if the Mules can beat Tufts University on Sunday.

The two teams will play in the seventh-place match at 9 a.m. Colby took a win over Tufts last weekend at home.

Colby defeated eighth-seeded Wesleyan by a 7-2 score in the first round. The Mules lost 9-0 to top-ranked Trinity College on Saturday morning and then fell 6-3 to fifth-seeded Amherst in an afternoon match.

Wesleyan had won 5-4 in the first match this year between the teams, but Colby rebounded a week later for a 5-4 win at Wesleyan. The Mules won fairly easily Friday, earning five 3-0 victories.

Madiha Molani (second position), Julianna Song (third), Cricket di Galoma (fifth), Ren Robinson (pictured, seventh), and Elise O'Brien (ninth) all won in three sets.

Lily Wain had the closest match of the day, taking a 3-2 win at the eighth spot. She won the opening two sets, lost the next two, and then settled down for an 11-4 win in the fifth set. Olivia Silverman had the other win for Colby in four sets at the third position.

Mullaney, Molina, and Wain won matches against Amherst. Molina fought back from one set down to win 12-10 and 11-8 in the final two sets for a 3-2 win.
