Women's swim team finishes 10th at league meet

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Morganne Hodsdon and Shauna Yuan both had 16th-place finishes and the 400-yard freestyle relay team placed 10th for Colby College at the NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Sunday at Middlebury College.

Yuan finished in 2:27.74 in the 200 breaststroke, while teammate Abigail Taylor-Roth was 18th with a 2:29.35. Hodsdon led three Colby swimmers in the top 24 for the 200 backstroke. She had a time of 2:11.11 (2:09.87 prelim) in the consolation final, Madi Keohane took 19th in 2:09.25, and Katherine King finished 22nd in 2:10.55.
Colby’s 400 freestyle relay team of Catherine Cimini, Katie Southworth, Hodsdon, and Katie Discipio had a time of 3:36.76.
Haley Jones clocked an 18:14.92 for 18th place in the 1,650 freestyle and teammate Kitty Elwyn was 19th in 18:18.92. The Mules also received a 23rd from Katie Southworth in the 100 freestyle (54.13, 53.45 prelim) and 24th by Tyra Daruwalla in the 200 butterfly (2:12.28, 2:11.90 prelim).
Colby finished the meet in 10th place with 402 points. The final standings were: Williams (2,045), Amherst (1343), Bates (1317.5), Middlebury (1090.5), Connecticut College (1013), Bowdoin (959), Tufts (720), Wesleyan (543), Hamilton (470), the Mules, and Trinity (239).
