Nesbitt earns big win at third singles to help Colby win Texas opener

AUSTIN, Texas -- Colby College's Callie Nesbitt earned the biggest victory of her young collegiate career by breaking a 4-4 tie and winning the third singles match in three sets in a 5-4 victory over Austin College in non-conference women's tennis Sunday.

The Mules improved to 5-1 overall heading into Tuesday's 2 p.m. match at Texas Lutheran. Austin had just earned a victory over 40th-ranked Cal Tech.
 
Nesbitt (pictured) earned a 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Anna Sergiovanni. She also teamed with Gabriela Venditti for an 8-6 victory at second doubles.
 
The Mules earned two more points with straight set victories for Jessica Tsai at fourth singles and Maddie Lupone at five.
 
Jamie Pine and Lupone won 8-6 at third doubles.
