Women's track and field has four winners at MIT meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Colby College women's indoor track and field team had two relay victories and had individual wins from Michaela Garrett and Isa Berzansky (pictured) in a tri-meet with Bates College and host MIT on Saturday.

Garrett won the weight throw with a toss of 53 feet, 9.75 inches and placed third in the shot put (34-4.75). Garrett broke her own school record in the first meet of the year with a throw of 55-3.5 at the Southern Maine Invitational.
 

Berzansky, who had a fine first-year in 2016, took the high jump with a 5-3.75 leap. Colby teammate Jenna Athanasopoulos was third at 4-7.75.

Colby's 1,600 relay team of Rachel Leonard, Sophie Stokes-Cerkvenik, Michaela Athanasopoulos, and Taylor Depalo won with a time of 4:02.91. The same four women also won the 800 relay in 1:47.30. 
 

The Mules had second-place finishes from Depalo in the 200 meters (26.94) and Jenna Athanasopoulos in the 60 hurdles (9.33). Stokes-Cerkvenik was third in the 60 hurdles (9.48).
