WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The women's outdoor track and field team competed at the Division III New England Champions at Williams College this past Friday and Saturday. The event hosted teams from numerous conferences across the region and was won by Williams.
Colby's top finish came from Sophie Stokes Cerkvenik, who placed 2nd in the 100 M hurdles with a time of 14.19. The time is her fastest of the season, the second fastest of her career, and gives her the 5th fastest time nationally for Division III athletes this season. Christie Woodside came in 7th in the same event in a time of 15.42, the second fastest of her career as well.
Stokes Cerkvenik also placed 4th in the 400 M hurdles with a time of 103.38. The time is a PR for her and places her 25th nationally on the season. Annah Rossvall also notched a PR in the 400 M Hurdles with a time of 1:05.65.
Rachel Leonard placed 5th in the 400 M finals in a time of 57.14. The time is a PR for Leonard and places her 24th nationally for Division III athletes.
The relay team of Rossvall, Leonard, Stokes Cerkvenik, and Woodside placed 5th in the 4 x 100 M relay out of 28 teams. Their time of the 48.72 was the fastest for the team this season.
In the field events, Sharde Johnson placed 7th in the high jump with a jump of 1.58 meters. Johnson also came in 12th in the triple jump at 11.17 meters, a PR for her in the event.
The Mules next compete in the New England Championships, a competition that spans all divisions, at Southern Connecticut State University this coming Friday and Saturday.
