Leonard, DePalo, Stokes Cerkvenik break school records

BOSTON, Mass. -- Rachel Leonard and Taylor DePalo both broke the school record in the 500-meter run, while teammate Sophie Stokes Cerkvenik tied her own school mark in the 60 hurdles at the Boston University Terrier Classic on Friday.

In a field of nearly all Division I athletes, Leonard finished in 16th place in 1 minute, 17.21 seconds. DePalo also broke the old school record of 1:18.83 by Michaela Athanasopoulos with her time of 1:18.54 while taking 22nd place. Annah Rossvall placed 31st with a 1:20.55.
 
Stokes Cerkvenik (pictured), an All-American and national champion in the outdoor 100 hurdles, competed in the 60 hurdles invitational and placed seventh in 8.89. She had a 9.04 in a preliminary race to qualify for the final. Stokes Cerkvenik also had an 8.89 a few weeks ago at the Great Dane Classic.
 
In the regular 60 hurdles, Colby's Laura Polley placed 17th in 9.64. Christie Woodside was 23rd in 9.80, Emily Larson placed 28th with a 10.08, and Emma O'Hara finished 30th in 10.39.
 
Sharde Johnson was 19th in the high jump (5-1) and Jayla Moss had the same finish in the triple jump at 35-5.75. Kaylie Vallee took 25th (34-4.75), Christina Speliakos was 26th at 34-3, and Lily Matson was 33rd with a 32-5.5. Larson took 30th in the high jump (4-11).
 
Helen Chavey placed 26th in the mile for the Mules in 5:04.05. Stokes Cerkvenik also placed 63rd in the 200 dash (26.17). Woodside was 107th in 27.13, Margaret Bannon took 116th with a 27.37, and Jocelyn Meyer was 134th in 28.08.
 
MJ Kievman took 101st place with a 2:30.87 in the 800 meters.
