BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Paige Hanssen, Karolina Serhan, and Elizabeth Noyes all had seven kills for the Colby College volleyball team in a 3-1 loss at University of New England on Wednesday night.
Serhan also had a team-high four blocks for Colby (4-15 overall), which plays at Bowdoin College on Friday at 7 p.m. Molly Manuel finished with 16 assists, Emily Moslener added 10 assists, seven digs and five aces, while Mae Sefransky had seven assists, five digs, and four aces.
Colby fought hard to win the second set, scoring the final three points to pull out a 25-23 victory. Noyes had a kill and Sefransky had back-to-back aces for the final two points.
Colby had an early 8-4 lead in the final set, but the Nor'easters went on a 7-1 run to go up 11-9. The Mules tied the match at 19-19, 20-20, 22-22, and 23-23 in the closing moments. However, UNE (12-8) scored the final two points to win the set.
