WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Colby College volleyball team beat a ranked New England Region team and received 12 kills from Paige Hanssen in a split of two matches Saturday at Williams College.
The Mules took a 3-1 win over Endicott College, the 15th-ranked team in New England. Colby started the day with a tight 3-0 loss to Williams in NESCAC play.
"We really came through after playing a hard-fought battle against Williams," Colby head coach Candice Parent said. "We had a very balanced team effort with players contributing on the both the offensive and defensive end."
Colby (3-11 overall, 0-4 NESCAC) won 25-20, 12-25, 25-19, 25-18 against the Gulls. The Mules fell 25-21, 25-16, 27-25 to the Ephs.
Elizabeth Noyes added 10 kills, hit .300, and added 10 defensive digs for the Mules against Endicott. Mae Sefransky had her best match of the season with 23 assists, 10 digs, and three aces. Karolina Serhan finished with eight kills, while Alexa Busser had six kills and no attack errors. Isa Berzansky played well with six kills and two blocks. Molly Manuel dished 20 assists and Erin Maidman (pictured) was all over the court with 30 digs.
"Erin Maidman played unbelievably, continuing to dig anything that came her way," Parent said. "Senior Lizzie Noyes was extremely consistent through the entire weekend and really stepped up her play in the Endicott match."
Hanssen led the way again in kills with nine against Williams and had seven digs. Noyes had six kills and seven digs, while Busser finished the two matches without an attack error while adding four kills.
The Mules did a terrific job at the net against the Ephs, finishing with 23 total blocks. Serhan led the way with six and Busser and teammate Nicole Petherbridge each had five. Maidman finished with 16 digs and Manuel had 12 assists.
