Volleyball drops match to Wesleyan, play Camels Saturday

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Paige Hanssen finished with eight kills, seven defensive digs, and four blocks for the Colby College volleyball team in a 3-0 setback to Wesleyan University in NESCAC play Friday night.
The Cardinals (12-2 overall, 7-0 NESCAC) won by set scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-14.
By the numbers
* Elizabeth Middlebrook added six kills, Molly Manuel had 18 assists, and Erin Maidman led in digs with eight. Simone Sears finished with four blocks for the Mules (5-11, 0-7).
* Natalie Hilton led the Cardinals with eight kills.
Match highlights
* The Mules only trailed 8-7 in the opening set, but Wesleyan used a 5-0 scoring run to take control.
* The Cardinals held just a 9-8 margin in the second set and only led 14-12 later in the set. However, a 4-0 scoring run pushed the lead to 18-12.
