Hanssen breaks school record with 24 kills over four sets

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Paige Hanssen broke a school record for total kills in a four-set match with 24 for the Colby College volleyball team in a 3-1 setback to University of New England on Tuesday.

Hanssen (pictured) broke the old record of 23 set by Meredith Lawler in 2006 in a match against Middlebury College. Hanssen hit .288 for the match, had 18 defensive digs, and three service aces.
 
The Nor'easters won by sets scores of 23-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-20.
 
Nicole Petherbridge and Elizabeth Middlebrook both had nine kills. Petherbridge hit .375 for the match, had nine digs, and two service aces. Middlebrook had 15 digs, two blocks, and two aces.
 
First-year Julia Hutchings had 16 digs and four kills for the Mules (2-3 overall). Molly Manuel finished with 29 assists and nine digs, while fellow setter Katie Devine had 15 assists.
 
Molly Camelo led UNE with 13 kills and 15 digs. Katie Flynn had 12 kills and 15 digs.
